Evidence binder setup that actually works

Under pressure — Article 15 appeal, BCMR petition, or VA supplemental — you win time by having your file squared away. I use Adobe Scan on my phone to PDF every record at 300 dpi, name files “YYYYMMDD_Subject,” keep an indexed hard-copy binder plus an encrypted cloud copy with 2FA; if you’ve got a better workflow or a tool that beats Bates-numbered PDFs for fast exhibits, I want to hear it.

I add a one-page hyperlinked index at page 1 and bookmark each exhibit — feels like a cheat code on screen-share. 300 dpi is fine for typed, but for handwritten SF‑600s I scan at 400 and run ABBYY FineReader for OCR since Adobe Scan misses cursive; “Bates-numbered PDFs” stay for citations.
