I hear this one a lot: only one VA benefit requires wartime service. It’s the needs-based VA pension — generally 90 days active duty with at least one day in a wartime period — and if you meet income and net worth limits, you can apply with VA Form 21P-527EZ or online; disability compensation doesn’t have that wartime requirement.
